Lesson 3 2010
OBJECTIVE: Student will write a comprehensive story about a photograph that a student brought in. The writers will take what they have learned about the photograph, the person that brought in the photo, and all they have learned about creative writing to articulate a story that will reflect what is going on in the picture.
ENDURING UNDERSTANDINGS: students will have the opportunity to learn more about their classmates, build confidence, and work on their creative writing skills.
DO NOW: Presenter will display their picture for the rest of the class to see. They will be able to tell about what is going on in the picture and why they brought in this particular photo. ACTIVITIES: The writers will use their creative abilities to enhance and elaborate on the story that the presenter has told. This is a great opportunity for all of the writers to work on particular parts of their writing. GUIDED PRACTICE: The teacher will also write and present a brief story that reflects the picture’s content. This will help the students enhance their stories and guide them in a direction appropriate suitable for this lesson. INDEPENDENT PRACTICE: Students will be given a set amount of time to write and then have the opportunity to present. The writers will then hand over their rough copy writing to the original presenter.
